Over the weekend Cory Hill and Rachel Louise Clarke, Shaw and Partners’ brand ambassadors, competed in the ICF World Championships in Hong Kong.  The race commonly known as the ‘Dragon Run’ is a 23km paddle from Clear Water Bay finishing at Stanley Beach.

On Sunday 19 November, Cory tamed wild race conditions to successfully defend his ICF Ocean Racing World title, holding off a late challenge from South Africa’s canoe marathon world champion, Hank McGregor.

Cory took the lead early, and once again proved he is the master of the big swell by holding off a strong South African contingent in three-metre swell, with Jasper Moche taking third behind McGregor. The Northcliffe surf lifesaver won last year’s ICF world championship in similar conditions in Tahiti, after finishing second at the first world titles behind Sean Rice in Portugal in 2013.

In the Women’s race, Rachel came placed fifth, behind new ICF World Champion Harley Nixon. Rachel is an ocean surf ski paddler from New Zealand who primarily races distances between 20-52kms. Rachel is the 4 x (consecutive) NZ Surf Ski Champion and also former (2014) Molokai Surf Ski World Champion, 2014 Australian Surf Ski Champion.
